Merit Scholarships and Financial Assistance
For over sixty two years, Sacred Heart Academy has provided an outstanding education for young women, challenging and preparing them to become leaders of tomorrow and “women of heart.” Sacred Heart is committed to working with families to help make a Sacred Heart education financially feasible.
Merit Scholarships
The Academic Excellence Merit Scholarship is a partial scholarship awarded at the conclusion of each academic year to the freshman, sophomore and junior student with the highest grade point average in her year who has demonstrated outstanding leadership potential along with superior academic ability. The scholarship applies to the following academic year only. In the case of a tie, the scholarship dollar amount will be equally divided. All students are considered and do not have to apply.
Incoming Freshmen Academic Awards are scholarships awarded to incoming 9th grade students who attain the highest scores on the Catholic High School Entrance Exam and who have listed Sacred Heart as their first choice school. Scholarship notification will be included with the students’ acceptance letters in January. The scholarship is renewable on a yearly basis if the student maintains a weighted grade point average of 90% or above at the conclusion of her freshman, sophomore and junior years.
Student Leadership Scholarships are partial scholarship awarded to incoming 9th grade students who, during their elementary school years, have demonstrated exceptional academic and leadership qualities, as evidenced by a completed application that will be distributed during the first week of the academic year. These scholarships are renewable provided the student maintains a weighted grade point average of 90% or above and continue to demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities. Student Leadership Scholarships are underwritten by The Gladys Brooks Foundation.
Financial Assistance
The Sacred Heart Alumnae Association Scholarship is a partial need-based scholarship available to an incoming 9th grade student with a Sacred Heart alumna connection. A completed scholarship application, a completed online FAIR financial aid application, and interview are required. To be considered, an applicant must list Sacred Heart Academy as her first choice school on the Catholic High School Entrance Exam, have an 85% or above grade point average, and submit three letters of recommendation
The scholarship dollar amount is determined by the Alumnae Association Scholarship Committee and is based on demonstrated financial need. The scholarship is renewable for all four years provided the student meets the necessary criteria.

The Dear Neighbor Scholarship is a full tuition need-based scholarship awarded to an 8th grade girl from the Hempstead/Uniondale/Roosevelt area who displays a desire, along with the academic ability, to succeed and become a contributing member of the Sacred Heart community. A completed scholarship application, a completed FAIR financial aid application, and interview are required. To be considered, an applicant must list Sacred Heart as her first choice school on the Catholic High School Entrance Exam, have an 85% or above grade point average, and submit two letters of recommendation.
The scholarship is renewable for all four years provided the student maintains a weighted grade point average of 85% or higher and is an active participant in the school community.
Financial Aid is available to qualifying families of all incoming and current students. To be eligible for consideration, you must complete a FAIR financial aid application and submit the application directly to FAIR along with all necessary supporting documentation to FAIR by March 1, 2013. You can expect to receive a letter regarding financial aid by May 1, 2013.
Financial aid amounts are based upon an annual analysis of the family’s financial need. Families must reapply for financial aid every year to account for changing financial circumstances.
